Empowering Post-Overdose Programs to Reach More People

The PRONTO Stimulants Toolkit is now up! This toolkit is a result of the PRONTO Stimulants study, which attempted to designed a tool for post-overdose programs better identify and connect with stimulant (e.g. cocaine, methamphetamine, etc.) users, particularly those from marginalized communities. This study focused on Native, Black, Latino, Hispanic, and youth populations which have been disproportionately impacted by stimulant use. This toolkit offers practical strategies and resources to enhance outreach efforts and improve outcomes. Please share and contact us with questions or feedback!

This poster provides an overview of all of our team’s work related to the suite of projects to date (See below). The RX summit “is the largest, most influential event addressing this crisis [opioid epidemic], where strategies are shared and put into action.” If you see Stephen at the conference be sure to say hello!

Connecting Communities to Substance Use Services: Practical Tools for First Responders

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)recently published a resource guide that provides practical, evidence-based information that first responder agencies, their partners, and communities can use to implement or expand practices and programs for linking people to substance use services. Several PRONTO study papers are cited within this guide, including the PRONTO Best Practice Guidance on page 20. One of our PRONTO team members, Stephen Murray, MPH, has been acknowledged as a subject matter expert for the creation of this guide (page 42).

The aim was to create evidence-informed best practice guidance for post-overdose outreach programs useful to agencies that create, lead, manage, or fund post-overdose outreach programs nationwide with the goal of reducing the risks of subsequent overdose.
